Kirkland
Kirkland is a city located in the state of Washington, United States. It is situated on the shores of Lake Washington, east of Seattle. The city lies between the cities of Redmond to the east and Bothell to the west. It is one of the most desirable cities to live in the Seattle metropolitan area and its population is currently estimated at 89,000. It is a bustling vibrant city with a charming downtown area, a variety of shopping and dining options, and a wide range of recreational activities.
The city has an interesting history that dates back to 1891 when Henry Bothell founded what would become known as Kirkland. In 1895 he sold it to Renton Lumber Company which began logging operations there soon thereafter. Over time more people came to settle in the area due to its proximity to good farmland and easy access by water or rail transportation routes such as those provided by Puget Sound's Northern Pacific Railway Company (later known as Burlington Northern Railroad Company).
Kirkland has many opportunities for recreation including hiking trails through parks like Totem Lake Park or walking along its waterfront promenade where you can enjoy views across Lake Washington towards Mount Rainier or watch boats pass through its marina system
Kirkland was originally named after Charles Nisbet Kirkland (1817-1880), who arrived in 1857 as part of an expedition led by Daniel Bagley. He later became known as "Mr Kirkland" or "Uncle Charley." The town was incorporated on February 14th 1892 and was named after Charles Norton's home town in New England.
Kirkland has been nicknamed “The Gateway to Seattle” because it provides easy access to all major destinations within King County and beyond via Interstate 405 which runs through it along with many other major roads including State Route 908 and State Route 522 among others.
